“Atmosphere: 4/5
The restaurant is well-kept, the staff has appropriate music playing and the walls are covered with delightful scenes celebrating Mexican culture. You might be able to get a laugh or two out of some of the wall paintings, some of them are pretty hilarious. The atmosphere compliments the eating experience very fluidly.
Service: 3.5/5
The staff is very accommodating and friendly. It was easy to spot vegetarian/vegan options; in the menu they note next to some dishes that they can be altered to suit a vegetarian diet (most of these options are vegan as well). My only complaint was the washrooms. Perhaps this was just my experience and the washrooms have been fixed since I last went, but the washrooms were a bonafide disaster. One toilet is visibly broken, there’s no toilet paper in either stall and the sinks were screwy. The only thing in the bathrooms that worked were the urinals and the hand dryer.
Food: 3.5/5
My whole family thoroughly enjoyed the food. The rice was a bit bland but the seasoning and preparation of everything else was A-OK for the most part. I ordered the chili but requested it be made vegetarian. I’m still so split on how I felt about that chili. It was basically just kidney beans and chili sauce with very, very few vegetables. It tasted good, especially because I have a tongue for spicier foods; but, I felt like I could have done a better job in my kitchen. I snuck a few vegan-friendly bites out of my nephew’s meal and it was dynamite.
Overall 3.5/5
Great in some respects and poor in others, Taco n Tequila is an inconsistent dining experience. However, if you happen to be out and about in the Ferry Street area don’t feel wary about giving this place a shot.”
